Rumtse To Tso Moriri Trekking Tour

Leh- Ladakh is strategically located in the mountain ranges of Himalayas and Karakoram. The best way to discover this majestic region is the trekking. It offers excellent trekking routes to adventure enthusiasts. Thus, trekking in Ladakh has always amazed the people from all over the world. It is a rustic yet splendid region with picturesque landscapes. Ladakh can be explored through various treks crossing through little hamlets, gurgling rivers and streams and the enchanting roadways. One of the most popular trek routes is Rumtse to Tso Moriri. This trek tour is scheduled for 11 days and is packed with many ups and downs through high passes and the snow capped mountain peaks. Along with the intricacies of Ladakh, this trek allows you to visit a large number of monasteries on this trek. Highlights of this trek include Hemis monastery, Stok monastery, Mount Kangyatse, hot springs and bird watching.

Day 1 – India, Leh.

Upon your arrival at Leh, you will be assisted and escorted to the hotel. Since Leh is a high altitude desert, it takes at least a day or two to acclimatize to the conditions. So, relax and take some rest in your hotel. Evening is set at leisure; you may opt to visit the local markets in Leh. It is enriched with culture and is dotted with temples and monasteries.

Day 2 – India, Leh.

Buckle up for full day excursion to Indus Valley. It will include the visits to magnificent feat of architecture in the form of Buddhist monasteries like Stok monastery, Thiksey Monastery and Hemis Monastery. Evening is set at your own leisure to roam around the local markets in Leh.

 

Overnight stay will be at a hotel in Leh.

Day 3 – India, .

It is a trek of 4-5 hours. After having breakfast in the morning, start driving to Rumtse by Leh- Manali Highway. Rumtse is the base for trek to Kyamar. Along the trek, you will treat your eyes with panoramic valley. In this valley, there is a huge grazing ground where locals or Changpas come with their yaks and goats. Crossing through this valley, you will trek on the archaic salt lake route.

 

Overnight stay will be in camp at Kyamar.

Day 4 – India, Leh.

This trek is the duration of 5-6 hours. Starting from Kyamar, you will trek towards Tisaling. On the way to this trek, you will reach Kumur La Pass. From the summit, you can immerse into the splendid beauty of snow covered mountain peaks of Ladakh. It also includes the Mount Kangyatse that offers the breath-taking views. Continuing from Kumur La, you will reach Tisaling.

Day 5 – India, Leh.

Starting from Tisaling, this trek will be covered in 5-6 hours. Post breakfast, trek towards Pangunagu will start. On the way, take a short break at Shibuk La Pass. Here you will relish the gorgeous vistas of Tsokar Lake. Tsokar Lake is home to many migratory birds and thus, it is an ideal hub to spot some of the rarest species of birds. After crossing the lake, you will reach Rupshu Valley. From Rupshu Valley, you will be trekking towards Pangunagu.

Day 6 – , .

This is a trek of 5-6 hours’ duration. Enjoy sightseeing and spot some rare species of birds at Tsokar Lake. At the end of this trail, take right and here you reach Nuruchan village.

Overnight stay will be in tents.

Day 7 – , .

Trek from Nuruchan to Gyamabarma takes 6-7 hours. This trek is of difficulty level because of the trekking along the highest altitude on this trek. This trek will take you to come across different passes like Horlam Kongka La and Kyamayuri La. You will then reach Gyamabarma.

 

Overnight stay will be in the camps.

Day 8 – , .

Yalung Nyau La is highest pass of this trek. Starting from Gyamabarma, we will trek through this pass. From its top, you can feast your eyes with spectacular views of Tibetan peaks. Yalung Nyau La leads to Korzok, which is the lone settlement near the banks of Tso Moriri Lake. Post arrival at Korzok, visit Korzok Monastery.

 

Overnight stay will be in tents.

Day 9 – , .

After having breakfast, we will drive to Leh along Indus River. Indus River is at a distance of around 220 kilometres from Korzok. This day is set to visit the hot springs at Chumathang. It is said that the hot springs have the healing power. We will continue our drive to Leh.

Day 10 – , .

The day will start with a visit to Alchi Monastery. Next in line is the visit to Maitreya Buddha statue at Likir Monastery. Likir Monastery is nestled at a scenic location where Indus River and Zanskar River confluence. After this, return journey towards Leh will begin.

Overnight stay will be at a hotel in Leh.

Day 11 – , .

You will be transferred to Leh airport. Bid a good bye and catch your return flight to hometown with lots of memories.
